§ 8-24. Animal bites generally.

  • (a)

    Unlawful conduct. It shall be unlawful for any person owning or having possession, charge, custody or control of an animal to allow that animal to bite a human being or animal.

    (b)

    Preventive measures authorized. If the animal services division determines that an animal has bitten a human being or animal, then the division shall have the authority to order the preventive measures authorized by section 8-25. The division shall have the authority to require the owner to notify the division if the animal escapes and the division shall have the authority to seize and impound the animal if the owner fails to comply with the provisions of this article.

    (c)

    Waiver. The animal services division director shall have the authority to waive any or all of the requirements set forth in this section if the director determines that the bite was inconsequential.
