§ 8-91. Muzzle.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful for any owner or keeper to allow a dangerous or aggressive animal to be outside of the enclosure unless it is necessary for the animal to receive veterinary care or exercise. In the case of dangerous animals, the animal shall wear a properly fitting muzzle, restrained by an adult capable of controlling the animal and shall be on a leash of sufficient tensile strength no more than three feet in length to prevent it from biting humans or other animals. Such muzzle shall not interfere with the animal's breathing.

    (b)

    It shall be lawful for an owner to exercise a dangerous or aggressive animal within a securely fenced or enclosed area that does not have a top, without a muzzle, if the animal remains within the owner's sight and only members of his immediate household or persons 18 years of age or older, are allowed in the enclosure when the animal is present.
